After a recent call for nominations, in 2021 the South Australian Division Committee will welcome two new members – Chris Baker and Sean Brooks. Chris and Sean’s experience and knowledge will compliment an already diverse and active Committee who are passionate about promoting the profession and ensuring South Australia’s engineering workforce is ready to face future challenges.
The South Australian Division Committee supports Engineers Australia’s South Australian activities and guides key programs and initiatives, with functions including:
- Providing leadership and direction to South Australian members
- Assisting the Board with the delivery of national programs
- Initiating and supporting local programs to engage members and appeal to new members
- Providing advice and recommendations to the Board on local matters
- Providing or arranging programs to promote the profession.

Chris Baker FIEAust CPEng EngExec NER APEC Engineer IntPE(Aus)
Chris Baker is a Chartered Profession Engineer with extensive experience in engineering, technology and business management. Chris began his career as a marine engineer in the RAN before moving into managing ship construction, simulation and for the last 15 years, railway systems and engineering. He is currently the Rail-Business Manager for the Australian arm of Frazer-Nash Consultancy, a specialist systems engineering and technology firm.
Chris has a hands-on approach to problem solving and has helped shape major infrastructure projects such as the Melbourne and Sydney Metro programs and the introduction and assurance of new digital railway technologies such as CBTC.
In his spare time, Chris is also Chair of Jazz SA, a not for profit organisation which brings together SA’s most promising jazz musicians and band directors to create Big Band experiences.
Sean Brooks FIEAust CPEng NER APEC Engineer IntPE(Aus)
Sean is a Fellow of Engineers Australia with extensive international and local energy industry experience. Sean is passionate about innovation and exploring the role the engineering profession will play in the coming energy transition.
Sean is Chartered in the fields of project management and petroleum engineering and has worked in operations and engineering management roles for Schlumberger, Santos, Drillsearch and most recently Cooper Energy.
