I am pleased to announce that Professor Aman Oo will be the new Head of School of Engineering.

Professor Oo has been doing a terrific job as the Interim Head of Engineering, and has really shown what he can do in the role over the last 6 months. The Vice Chancellor is also strongly supportive of appointing Aman – his efforts and leadership in the interim HoS role have been noted widely across the university -  and the school is very happy to have a HoS they trust and respect going forward.

Professor Aman Oo is an Electrical Engineer, who has research expertise in power engineering – specifically renewable energy & energy storage system integration, smart grid communication, power system stability and control, sustainable operation and control of microgrids as well as in Engineering Education. He is the Director of the Sustainable Power Engineering Research group (SPER). He has supervised more than 10 PhD students to completion and is currently supervising several PhD students in the area of electrical power engineering and renewable energy engineering.

Aman has been at Deakin since 2014 and has held several leadership roles within the school of Engineering, including Discipline Head of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, then Associate Head of Teaching and Learning, then Deputy Head, and most recently he has been the interim Head of School. He was a key contributor to the engineering curriculum transformation to project orientated, design based learning, and is a regular participant in Engineers Australia accreditation panels across Australia.
