Automatic Car Parking Systems

Automatic Car Parking Systems

Presentation one
In July 2014 the most advanced automated vehicle parking system installed on Australian soil was commissioned in Melbourne. It was evident that the advantages of the humble 2-3 tiered car stacker had been accepted by users, but further space savings were available, driven by the high level of acceptance and significant cost savings. Over the coming months the designs evolved quickly and with each new design proposal, significant issues were identified by fire services. The issues evolved due to the lack of direction provided by existing regulatory pathways at the time. Representatives of the MFB will discuss what new risks and challenges were presented with this evolution and the response by MFB to this challenge.

Presentation two
The fire hazard posed by automated vehicle storage system can be significant – for both occupants and fire-fighters. The talk will cover theory behind car fires, the methods for protection, a review of the latest research, and how the industry has responded.
