This presentation will focus on recent advancements in the materials handling industry that have come out of TUNRA and the University of Newcastle. The areas that will be covered in this presentation include;
• New conveyor belt cut and gouge test
• Calculation of belt flexure resistance using the new indentation rolling resistance Australian Standard
• Advancements in DEM/FEM conveyor belt simulation and verification testing
• Development of a 3 parameter materials handling index to classify cohesive materials
• Update on the DEM calibration process and relationship to physical testing

 

Guest Speaker

Dr Tim Donohue is the General Manager of TUNRA Bulk Solids and has been with TUNRA since 2007. His primary consulting expertise is in the use of numerical modelling to solve industrial problems. Initially, this was in the field of conveyor belt transfer chutes, however more recently has expanded into more unique and challenging areas such as quaking bins, feeders, vibrating screens and the modelling of particle breakage. Tim has worked on over 250 projects, including both concept design as well as trouble shooting, in Australia and Internationally, and involving a wide range of material types.
