Women in Engineering Sydney invitesyou to attend the Annual Eminent Speakers Breakfast at Hilton Hotel Sydney. An opportunity to indulge in one of the finest breakfasts in the city while listening to our esteemed speakers

Narelle Underwood
NSW Surveyor General and Director Survey Operations, NSW Department of Customer Service Narelle Underwood was appointed the 25th Surveyor-General of NSW in 2016 - the youngest person in over 200 years and the first female to hold the position. A major role within State Government she is responsible for the leadership and regulation of the land and mining surveying profession and plays a key advocacy role in the geospatial industry. Narelle is the president of the Board of Surveying and Spatial Information (BOSSI), Chair of the Geographical Names Board (GNB), the Surveying and Mapping Industry Council (SMIC) and the NSW Surveying Taskforce.

Anna Squire 
Anna is a chartered civil engineer and experienced project director who has led large, multidisciplinary design teams on major rail projects in Australia, the USA and the UK.

Anna moved from London to Arup’s Sydney office in 2007 where she subsequently held the role of NSW & ACT Infrastructure Leader, leading a team of more than 200 staff.  In 2017, Anna was appointed Australasia Rail Business Leader, responsible for the strategy and growth of Arup’s Rail Business in Australia, New Zealand and parts of Asia. 

Anna’s project leadership roles in Australia include Sydney Metro, Sydney CBD & South East Light Rail, Canberra Light Rail and Parramatta Light Rail. In the UK she held senior project management roles on projects such as High Speed 1, West Coast Main Line, Tubelines London Underground station upgrades and the Jubilee Line Extension.

Anna has been recognised by the Institute of Engineers Australia through her appointment as a Fellow. She is also a Certified Practising Project Director with the Australian Institute of Project Management.

In 2015 Anna received Consult Australia’s inaugural Champion of Change award for female leadership, and in 2018 she was appointed a board member of the Australasian Railway Association.
