Discover how water utilities are turning to digital twins to test and understand the consequences of their decisions without putting their equipment, people, and environment at risk.

Water and wastewater utilities are facing challenges from aging infrastructure to population shifts to climate change. Operating resilient wet infrastructure requires making timely, well-informed decisions every day.

This begins with design integration and interoperability across multiple disciplines which boosts creativity, giving designers and engineers more options to innovate by removing unnecessary tasks, reducing errors and clashes, improving communication (both internally and externally) with stakeholders.

Engineering models are then integrated with city-scale reality models and GIS data which are continuously updated with operational data from SCADA systems, sensors and meters to create a Digital Twin.

Simon is fascinated by technologies that provide both insights into and the capabilities that contributed to operational efficiency, which in turn deliver better services for customers.

Jakub Wachocki
Industry Digital Advancement Academies Director for ASEAN & ANZ regions | Bentley Systems

Jakub Wachocki is the Bentley Systems, Industry Digital Advancement Academies Director for ASEAN and ANZ regions.

For the last few years, Jakub has been working closely with the industry, academia and the policymakers to improve the built environment sector in the UK, Europe and Asia through digital innovation. As a leading global advisor, he collected vast experience in championing initiatives, driving innovation, defining the information strategy and managing change within a few of the Fortune 500 companies and for the major infrastructure asset owners, internationally.

His current focus is on building appropriate high-performance structures able to accelerate positive industrial disruption through business model innovation, corporate change management and process innovation.

Before joining Bentley Systems, he has led teams delivering major engineering and design projects in Russia, Kuwait, Switzerland and Italy. He has been engaged with several industry initiatives in the UK including i3p (Innovation Leaders Group) the British Standards Institute`s (BSI) “BIM Level 2/3/4” committee and co-founded the Process Innovation Forum.

He is a chartered member of the Professional Board of Engineers (Italy) and a registered architect (Architects Registration Board, UK). He is an MBA candidate at the Imperial College Business School (London, UK) and a regular speaker at the leading industry conferences globally.

Dean Jagoe
Senior Application Engineer, Water Infrastructure | Bentley Systems

Dean Jagoe began his career as a water engineer at an authority in Victoria, Australia. While there for 5 years, he grew proficient in Bentley’s OpenFlows products. Joining Bentley in 2010 as an OpenFlows Application Engineer, he has been providing on-site coaching and training services as well as integrated project work. Dean is motivated by getting users to a level of confidence where they can be self-sustaining of their OpenFlows products.

Ron Seydler
Senior Digital Integrator for the ANZ region | Bentley Systems

Ron has 24 years of experience working with various Bentley products. This experience spans from being an end user of Bentley tools, through to support and consultancy across a wide variety of products. Working with both EPC and Owner Operators within the oil and gas sector for many years allows Ron to apply a broad end to end approach to his consulting work. Relating to the customer’s needs gives Ron the ability to assess and deploy solutions in a timely manner. His current focus is helping clients explore their dark data by unlocking their information using the Bentley iTwins suite of products.
