The building-integrated photovoltaics (BIPV) products combine the function of traditional building components and photovoltaics. The application of BIPV products in Australia requires compliance with fire safety among all safety requirements in the Building Code Australia and relevant Australian Standards.
This presentation will discuss relevant DtS Clauses, required data, and the requirements in a Performance Solution to allow BIPV products in a building.

MC is a Technical Director and Quality Manager at RED Fire Engineers. He is a chartered professional engineer, a fire safety engineer and mechanical engineer on the Engineers Australia National Engineering Register, a fire safety engineer registered in Victoria, New South Wales and Queensland, and a fellow of Institution of Engineers Australia and Institution of Fire Engineers.
M.C. has over 40 years of experience in the fire safety and fire protection industry. He specialises in performance-based fire safety designs and fire and life safety risk assessments for a wide range of built environments ranging from residential buildings to industrial facilities as well as infrastructure projects. M.C. has also been involved in carrying out fire resistance testing and attained NATA approved signatory status. He is also a guest lecturer at Victoria University on their postgraduate fire safety engineering courses.
Associate Professor Rebecca Yang
Leader of Solar Energy Application Lab, School of Property, Construction and Project Management, RMIT University
Rebecca is a building and construction scholar working in the subfield of innovation adoption. Her area of expertise is applied distributed renewable energy, and she is particularly known for my research on solar building envelope applications. Her research endeavours have led to the publication of over 100 publications.
Supported by the Australian PV Institute and Australian Renewable Energy Agency, she actively represents Australia as an Expert in the International Energy Agency (IEA) collaborative programs. She is the Australian lead in the Photovoltaic Power Systems Programme (PVPS) Task 15 Enabling Framework for the Development of BIPV https://apvi.org.au/pvps-task-15/and the Solar Heating and Cooling Programme (SHC) recent approved Task 66 Solar Energy Buildings.

His expertise includes the performance of materials and structural elements at high temperature and performance-based design.
