Developing new modified vehicle products

Start time: 12.00pm AEDT. Learn how new modified vehicle products are developed for Australia’s automotive industry.
Developing new modified vehicle products

Andrew George will provide a case study on developing an aftermarket suspension system to provide an overview of the regulatory landscape and the process of risk identification and assessment. This will include the application of simulation and physical testing to reduce product development cost and project duration and an explanation on the definition of a modification and how this shapes the framing of design projects. The presentation will conclude with explaining why a specific aftermarket process is required for product development projects due to difficulties in applying Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) processed in the Small to Medium Sized Enterprise (SME) environment.

Andrew will underpin his case study with a summary of results from field research on the safety, reliability, and compliance of modified vehicles. This will support the solutions to be covered in avoiding the risks and traps in design and development of modification products.
