Insights into Rail-Mounted Cranes

This event is 5:00pm for a 5:30pm start AWST.

About this event

Richard Shedlock has been investigating crane and crane support structures failures as well as inspecting and correcting their defects for nearly 30 years. He has also designed and reviewed the designs of both for over 20 years. This presentation will cover valuable lessons learned by Richard in this time, with special insight into his findings of interactions that occur leading to failure.

The principles discussed by Richard will apply to the design and specification of Mobile Bulk Materials Handling Machines and structural steelwork design and specification in general. He will highlight what aspects influence crane failures and how safety in design and designers specifications for things like maintenance, can prevent failures.

Who should attend

Members, graduates and students with an interest in civil, construction, structural engineering and/or within the mining, petrochemical and energy fields are encouraged to attend.

Event program

Presentation followed by Q&A and networking with Structural College representatives, EA members and special guest speaker Richard Shedlock.
