Facilitated by Dr Kristin Alford, Futurist and Director of MOD, our panellists include Andrew Nunn (Chief Entrepreneur), Sumen Rai (Defence Innovation Partnership) and David Bird (Santos).

Director, MOD. at the University of South Australia

Kristin is a futurist and Founding Director of In Situ Foresight and the inaugural Director of MOD., an award-winning museum of discovery at the University of South Australia. From a mixed background that includes qualifications and experience in engineering, human resources, strategy, science communication and futures thinking, she actively works across various sectors to help people create sustainable, prosperous and equitable futures at the intersection of science, art and innovation.

Andrew Nunn
Chief Entrepreneur for South Australia

Andrew has decades of experience as an environmental consultant, entrepreneur and philanthropist.

He is Co-Founder, Chairman and Executive Director of JBS&G Australia – one of Australia’s largest privately owned environmental consulting companies – and was awarded EY Entrepreneur of the Year for the Central Region in 2017.

Andrew acts as Director of several companies focussed on property development, private equity investments and entertainment opportunities.

In partnership with his wife Alexandra Dimos, he founded the Nunn Dimos Foundation, a philanthropic fund focussed on supporting key social and arts causes in South Australia.

Leader of the Entrepreneurship Advisory Board, the South Australian Chief Entrepreneur provides high level, independent advice to the South Australian Cabinet and business community to enable entrepreneurialism across all forms of business, industry and the public sector.

 David Bird

David Bird
Senior Vice President of Productions Operations, Santos Ltd

David is the Senior Vice President of Production Operations at Santos, responsible for operations across the Santos portfolio of Onshore and Offshore gas, oil and LNG assets. He has been with Santos since 2019. 

David joined Santos from Shell, where he held various leadership roles in LNG, refining, project & commercial, working in several locations around the world such as the USA, Singapore, South Africa, the UK, France and the Netherlands.

Sumen Rai

Sumen Rai
Director, Defence Innovation Partnership

Sumen is Director of the Defence Innovation Partnership, a collaborative initiative of the South Australian Government, Defence Science and Technology Group and the three South Australian universities. Since 2018, she has led national and international R&D engagement between researchers, industry and government. 

Sumen supports research, development and innovation activities for Defence SA and the South Australian Space Industry Centre. She has previously been a teacher and lecturer in Arts and Design & Technology, a science communicator, and coordinator of outreach and engagement initiatives, including several open government hackathons such as the NASA Space Apps Challenge.
