Building a solar EV prototype car from scratch

Join us and hear about how a once-extra-curricular student project has become a course in its own right, and a world recognised brand, and how a team of exceptional undergraduate engineering students when given no boundaries can create exceptional solutions to very relevant problems.

We will explain how the team takes a blank sheet of paper and in 18 months build a solar EV prototype car with a range of over 1200km bringing all of the latest energy, material and aero technologies together to showcase what can be done.

Richard Hopkins, former Head of Operations for the world champion Red Bull Racing Formula One Team, has joined UNSW Engineering as an industry mentor to the student-led Sunswift solar car and Redback SAE racing teams.
