IP Australia is the Australian Government agency that administers intellectual property (IP) rights and legislation relating to patents, trade marks, and designs. This webinar focuses on the patent application process, providing insight and details of the requirements needed should you wish to apply.

Kevin Restrick
Supervising Examiner of Patents, IP Australia

Originally from the UK, Kevin’s passion for aircraft led him to study aerospace engineering at university where he majored in gas turbine cycle design and airframe integration. Kevin spent seven years working for research organisation QinetiQ. His work covered a diverse range of novel aircraft concepts, including supersonics, blended wing body aircraft, and ultra-efficient loitering drones.

Kevin moved to Australia in 2007 and took up a position at IP Australia. Having worked in the mining and physics teams, Kevin now leads the mechanical engineering patent examination section that is responsible for granting patents in areas such as agriculture, aircraft, automotive and turbo machinery. Kevin is an enthusiastic and passionate educator for all things patents and patent searching.

Samantha Saals
Senior Patent Examiner, IP Australia

Samantha Saals is a Senior Patent Examiner at IP Australia. She has a Bachelor of Science majoring in Physics from the Australian National University. Samantha has worked for IP Australia for the past 13 years examining patents related to various areas of Physics, Electronics, Computing, Engineering and Medical Devices.
