About the site tour

The Gravity Discovery Centre & Observatory offer this unique and enlightening tour at a discounted price for Engineers Australia members.

Gain a better understanding of the link between Indigenous culture and spirituality to western culture and science. Run by respected Noongar Aboriginal Elders, be immersed in the lessons from the Caterpillar dreaming.

The sessions will centre around;

  • Navigation
  • Science
  • Stories
  • Life lessons
  • Astronomy

This unique experience provides tools for living life with enhanced connectedness and an expanded mindset.

Further details

The Indigenous learning portion of the day will run from 2pm until 7:30pm (Dinner will be catered for during this time).

After dinner guests will discover our observatory for an unforgettable stargazing experience the finish time is estimated to be 9.30pm.

NB. Due to the nature of the tour, the timing for the stargazing component is flexible and will depend on the weather and the level of interaction desired by participants.

  • Comfortable clothing and shoes are required for the bush walking element of the tour.
  • A warm jacket will be required for the night star gazing element.
  • Attendance is restricted to 50 so registrations are essential.

Venue

The Gravity Discovery Centre and Observatory

The Observatory is situated at Yeal, between Yanchep National Park and the township of Gingin. Twelve kilometres off Indian Ocean Drive (Wanneroo Road) and twenty five kilometres from Brand Highway (near the Gingin turnoff), we are within an hour to an hour and a half from Perth and surrounds providing close access for this truly unique experience.

Guests are requested to meet at the reception of the venue by 1.45pm ahead of the tour start time of 2.00pm.
