Engineers Australia appoints new board member

Engineers Australia has announced the appointment of PwC Australia Chief Operating Officer, ESG Leader and Executive, Liza Maimone, as a non-executive director to the Board.

A chemical engineer and business leader with a passion for sustainability, Maimone brings with her a wealth of engineering and corporate experience and expertise. Engineers Australia is the engineering profession’s peak body. As the voice of the profession, it exists to advance the science and practice of engineering for the benefit of the community.

Maimone aims to use her skills to support the organisation in achieving its vision of ‘advancing society through great engineering’.

“I am thrilled to be joining the board of Engineers Australia,” Maimone said. “I firmly believe my involvement with Engineers Australia throughout my career – the opportunities it gave me as a graduate; the relationships and networks I built; and the support I received – gave me the confidence to achieve what I have in my career.

“As a director of Engineers Australia, I am inspired to be a contributor to the organisation’s great work by supporting our engineering community to collaborate, innovate, influence policy, and drive meaningful and sustainable change.”

Liza has more than 27 years’ professional experience providing risk, governance, sustainability and climate change advice and assurance services across a range of industries to senior management and Boards and leads PwC Australia’s Environment, Social & Governance (ESG) services to clients.

As PwC Australia’s Chief Operating Officer, Liza is responsible for PwC Australia’s central functions, and is also a director of PwC’s Australia, South East Asia and New Zealand Consulting business.

Liza holds a BEng(Chem)(First Class Hons) and Grad Dip Law (Energy and Resources) from The University of Melbourne. She is a Fellow of Engineers Australia (FIEAust CPEng EngExec NER APEC Engineer IntPE(Aus)), member of Chief Executive Women, and holds a range of other directorships and advisory roles.
