The Australian Higher Education section runs a story on our latest university entrance data which shows an increase in women applying for engineering courses but an overall decline in numbers of young people taking up an engineering degree at universities.The story featured prominently in both the hard copy of the paper and online.

The article cites mechatronics and infrastructure as big areas of growth. Brent Jackson argues that infrastructure demand needs to be levelled to moderate it over time and that Governments as significant customers and suppliers of infrastructure services need to ensure that they are not rushing to deliver the same sort of projects  in the same place at the same time.
