ACT appoints first Chief Engineer

Engineers Australia has welcomed the appointment of Adrian Piani as the ACT’s first Chief Engineer.

The Canberra Division worked closely with the ACT Government in 2018 to introduce the role of Chief Engineer and was delighted to hear the announcement that Adrian had been appointed to the position.

The appointment of a Chief Engineer will safeguard an innovative and skilled engineering workforce in the ACT, as well as ensure strategic infrastructure planning and processes are in place.

Mr Adrian Piani will provide strategic advice on projects including Stage Two of the city-wide light rail network, upgrades at the Canberra Hospital precinct and the capital works program in ACT schools.

Adrian Piani is a highly respected engineer and consultant, both in the ACT and Nationally. Adrian has been an active member of the Canberra Division since 2009, previously served as Chair of the Engineers Australia Environmental College and is the Engineers Australia Councillor to Standards Australia.

Adrian also has extensive experience in the ACT, having worked on a range of infrastructure projects and initiatives. His relationships with industry and universities positions him well to deliver strong outcomes in the role, and we look forward to working with him and the ACT Government.
