Celebrating the Centenary in the North

Engineers help build communities and engineers in the Territory are known of their generosity.

To celebrate Engineers Australia’s 100-year anniversary, Engineers Australia Northern is calling upon Northern Territory-based businesses, schools and everything in between to collect cans of food which can be used to build a structure of their choosing.

The kicker?

All the cans used to create these structures will be donated to Foodbank NT.

Once registered, teams will work collaboratively and collect cans to donate. Teams can consist of co-workers, fellow committee members, family and friends.

So, how will it all work?

The teams will create a structure together. Creativity and imagination are encouraged, and as engineers, out-of-the-box thinking is your bread and butter.

Once the structure is complete, teams will take a photo of their structure and send it to Engineers Australia Northern by Wednesday 31st July.  Their photos will be featured on EA Northern’s social media on Engineers Australia’s Centenary Celebration day, Thursday 1 August.

After the sculptures are built, Darwin-based teams can bring their donated cans to our office at 9 Cavenagh Street where there will be FoodBank NT containers for donations. Regional areas will have a central location where cans can be collected.

FoodbankNT has identified the following tinned foods as their wish list: Tomatoes, spaghetti, baked beans, tuna, corned beef, stew, vegetables, fruit, beetroot and soup.

We’ll tally up the tins and post the number that were donated on social media. How many cans can we get?
