Engineers Australia announces territory’s top young engineer

Sam Brazier-Hollins has been named 2019 Young Professional Engineer of the Year – ACT at a special Engineers Australia Fellows lunch in Canberra on Wednesday.

An ANU graduate, Mr Brazier-Hollins is Managing Consultant for oobe, a firm specialising in cloud, search and end user computing solutions 

He has a strong grounding in information technology, and specialises in security of IT systems and has a modern, risk-based approach to security.

Mr Brazier-Hollins prides himself on practical applications of knowledge and acknowledges that every IT environment is unique, thus needing a unique approach to security.

Engineers Australia President – Canberra, Kevin Earle said the Engineer of the Year Awards celebrate outstanding individual engineering achievements.

“All nominees have made substantial contributions to the profession, and I look forward to seeing both nominees and award winners continue to innovate and inspire in their fields,” said Mr Earle.

Engineers Australia Division Manager – Canberra, Kiri Robbie, said the 2019 awards align with our organisation’s centenary, providing a platform to celebrate all local engineers – past, present and future. 

“With engineering playing a critical role in the lives of all Australians, now is the time to look back and marvel at our many accomplishments and advancements encapsulated within 100 years. It is also the time to look forward, imagine our future and continue the legacy through young professional engineers like Sam,” said Ms Robbie.
