Meet the 2024 Young Engineers Australia National Committee

Young Engineers Australia elects a diverse, passionate group of new National Committee members to complement the experienced and dedicated continuing members, representing and advocating for over 40,000 young engineers.

Elected members volunteer their expertise and time to provide leadership in key areas including the overall governance and strategic direction of Engineers Australia for the benefit of young engineers.

Engineers Australia would like to congratulate Steve Adamthwaite as Chair and Samantha Chapman as Deputy Chair on their election to the Young Engineers Australia National Committee in 2024.

We also welcome new members Matthew McCormick, Robert Koch, Sangeetha Kamath and Alice Zhao, who joins continuing members Cindy Ng, Averil Astall, Zoe Little and Tino Baya. We also welcome Gurshan Nanda as a co-opted member. Each new member will serve on the committee for two years.

Together, the group will work to represent, support, empower and provide a voice for young engineers in Australia.

This year, some of the committee’s top priorities will be to represent a diverse, inclusive, and engaged engineering cohort, move the needle on important issues affecting young engineers, and contribute to national and global discussions—continuing the shared goal of advancing society through great engineering.

We thank the following committee members whose terms ended in 2023 for their exceptional work: Alissa Li and Robert Hudson, and Kate Lipczynski who was our First Nations representative co-opted member.

We farewelled Nicole Brown, who has been a long-standing committee member and leader, most recently holding the co-chair role in 2023. We thank her for her commitment and energy.

The 2024 committee welcomes members ideas on how to best serve the profession in the young engineers' community. Please contact them at [email protected] with suggestions or discussion points.
